A guide to the treatment
Bridges,
Two supporting teeth prepared and a temporary bridge fitted, each stage named before it happens.
Two teeth prepared for a bridge invite more apprehension than the procedure usually earns, once each stage is set out in advance: numbing, then the shaping of each supporting tooth in turn, with a raised hand enough to halt matters at any point along the way. A concern mentioned before the appointment begins shapes how the time is spent.

Bridges
Numbing comes before shaping, always
Each supporting tooth receives anaesthetic in turn, so preparation registers only as pressure.
You decide when to continue
A raised hand is enough. The appointment waits until you are ready to go on.
The gap closes again within the same visit
A temporary bridge takes its place at once, and most people stop noticing it within days.
How it happens
Two supporting teeth prepared and a temporary bridge fitted, each stage named before it happens.
A concern is noted before anything begins
time is given to raise one, about either tooth or the gap itself.
Each side is prepared only once numbed
the two supporting teeth are shaped in sequence, with pace read from your response as the visit continues.
A temporary is fitted for the interval ahead
checked across both teeth before the appointment closes.
Questions before a decision
A bridge appointment often carries the weight of an earlier experience elsewhere. This one is judged on its own terms.
Will preparing two teeth hurt more than one?
No. Each is numbed before it is shaped. The sensation should register as pressure, on either side.
Can the appointment be paused if something feels sharp?
Yes, at any point. A raised hand is enough, and the visit continues only once you signal readiness.
Is the temporary bridge noticeable at first?
Slightly, at first. Most people stop noticing it well before the second visit arrives.
Does asking to slow down change the plan for either tooth?
No. The pace adjusts within the same appointment; both teeth are still prepared and the temporary still fitted, exactly as planned.
An assessment, first
Nothing proceeds until it has been examined properly.
Tell the team what has changed or what concerns you. Everything else, including whether treatment is even necessary, follows only after a proper look.
